Meditation is both a skill and an experience. It is a practice to cultivate awareness, attention and compassion. Meditation is not about “emptying the mind,” or “stopping thoughts.” Instead, we meditate to see those thoughts more clearly.
An abundance of research has shown that meditation can improve the emotional, psychological, and physical quality of life for those who practice. People who have a regular practice describe increased happiness, patience, compassion, acceptance, and better sleep. Meditation can also help reduce stress, anxiety, depression, and pain.
We know how good it is mentally, physically, and emotionally it is to meditate, but establishing a regular practice can be challenging. Learning to meditate is like learning any other skill, and luckily it is not one size fits all. Having a meditation teacher will help you get through some of the hurdles and make the journey of learning meditation a little easier. Together we will establish a meditation practice that makes sense for you.
